Supervisory Development Centre (SDC)

The Supervisory Development Centre is an institution established in 1981 at Kalamassery under the Department of Technical Education. Through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme of the MHRD under the Central Government, candidates who have completed three-year diploma courses, B.Tech, and non-engineering degree courses (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Voc, etc.) can register with this institution after their studies to secure a one-year apprenticeship opportunity in various government, public sector, and private institutions. The aim of this institution is to provide practical training to candidates after their studies.

Candidates who have completed the above-mentioned courses within the last five years and have not received training under the Apprentices Act are eligible for apprenticeship opportunities. Candidates can register online through the website sdcentre.org. Graduates are entitled to a minimum stipend of ₹9,000/- per month, while diploma holders receive a minimum stipend of ₹8,000/- per month. After completing the training, candidates are awarded a Proficiency Certificate by the Central Government, which is recognized as work experience at the national level.

Under the leadership of the Supervisory Development Centre, centralized walk-in interviews are conducted annually across various districts. Through this initiative, candidates can directly participate in interviews with companies and secure employment opportunities.

The institution also offers a one-year (two-semester) government-approved part-time diploma course, Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety Engineering (ADISE). Currently, this course is conducted exclusively at this institution in Kerala. Candidates who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate from the Controller of Technical Examinations.Eligibility: B.Tech / Three-year Engineering Diploma / B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry) Preference will be given to candidates with prior work experience during admissions.

As per the Central Labor Law, every industrial establishment is required to appoint a specified number of safety officers. To address the shortage of such safety officers, the syllabus of this course has been designed based on the curriculum of the Central Labor Institute. This course has been recognized as a qualification for securing employment as a safety officer within the state.
